Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins made comments about fans during a live stream, which have sparked discussion. Dawkins joined a live streamer during his time off this spring.
Dawkins’ Initial Remarks and Clarification
During the live stream, Dawkins was asked if he would leave Buffalo for Miami if offered double his current salary. Initially, Dawkins said yes, citing being treated poorly by Bills fans. According to Dawkins, “I’m going to tell you the truth, the Bills fans be trying to cook me,” and added, “Tell them to watch they mouth.”
Dawkins then appeared to walk back his initial statement, clarifying he was not being serious. However, the conversation continued with Dawkins appearing to go back-and-forth with his commentary.
Interpretation of Dawkins’ Comments
It seems more likely that Dawkins was not intending to criticise Bills fans. He was perhaps trying to convey that negativity exists among fan bases everywhere.
Dawkins also stated that Buffalo and the Bills are “too much like a family” to leave. It’s possible his words simply came out wrong.
Dawkins’ Loyalty to Buffalo
Despite the earlier comments, Dawkins suggested a strong connection to Buffalo. He described the Bills as being like a family, suggesting a reluctance to leave.
