Cuauhtémoc Blanco has revealed his future plans after leaving his political career behind him. He spoke exclusively on ‘Faitelson sin censura’ about what he intends to do next.
The former América and Mexican national team player was a guest on the show hosted by David Faitelson, alongside Germán Villa and Isaac Terrazas.
Blanco’s Managerial Ambitions
Blanco revealed his intentions to return to football, stating, “I have spoken with my compadre (Germán Villa), I told him that we have to return to football, I want to be a coach.”
He added, “I am thinking about it, I think so, I want to be a coach, I told Villa that we have to prepare to be good coaches, I also commented to Isaac (Terrazas).”
Concerns About Mexican Football Talent
Blanco believes that Mexican football is in crisis at both club and national team levels due to a lack of opportunities for Mexican talent.
He stated, “We have a great opportunity to generate that hunger in the kids, in the young people because today, I have always said it and I will not tire of saying it, the best footballers are in the neighbourhoods, it’s just that they are no longer given the opportunity.”
Foreign Players and Youth Academies
Blanco also pointed to the number of foreign players in the league and the decline of youth academies as contributing factors.
“Today there are a lot of foreigners, there are no youth forces either, before in América you would take out six or seven players from the youth forces, in Cruz Azul the same, in Pumas, to see who took out more kids.”
He added, “Now not even Pumas, nor América, the one that takes out now is Pachuca and the kids from Guadalajara who are there, they made a good group. There is talent, they just don’t give them an opportunity.”
