Csikszereda vs FCSB: Champions League Player Excluded From Squad

FCSB are set to open the SuperLiga play-out stage with a match against Csikszereda. The match is scheduled for Friday, 1 May, at 20:30.

Arad Misses Out

Ofri Arad has not been included in the FCSB squad for the trip to Miercurea Ciuc. The midfielder’s exclusion is notable, given his arrival during the winter transfer window. It has been reported that the Israeli midfielder is not suffering from any medical issues.

Arad, who joined from Kairat Almaty, has made only four appearances for FCSB. He arrived in January after playing in the UEFA Champions League.

Popa to Start in Goal

Matei Popa is set to start in goal for the champions against Csikszereda. This will be Popa’s second consecutive start, following a 3-1 victory against Petrolul Ploiești.

Marian Aliuță commented on the pressure on young goalkeepers. “From my point of view, there is great pressure on the goalkeeper, especially since he is young, like Popa,” he said. “He is a good goalkeeper, he does not yet have strength, experience.”

Aliuță added: “Next season they will fight again for the championship and there will be pressure. You will play with Dinamo, with Rapid, with Craiova, with CFR Cluj. What happens if he makes a mistake? Are we going to see him criticised? You need an experienced goalkeeper.”

Tarnovanu’s Situation

Štefan Târnovanu finds himself on the bench again after Mirel Rădoi’s departure from FCSB. Târnovanu’s last match was the 3-2 victory against Farul, where he made errors. Experts believe the double champion of Romania is being treated unfairly.

Marian Aliuță said: “You can’t say that he didn’t have very good moments and he took the team out [of difficult situations]. You see that it can destroy your career… If you don’t play, you can be a tank. Who else is going to take him somewhere? So that the club also wins 2-3 million?” Sabin Ilie added: “Is it normal to be the national team goalkeeper and not play for the club?”

FCSB will travel to Miercurea Ciuc for the match against Csikszereda.
