Craig Berube has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The announcement came from Maple Leafs General Manager John Chayka.
Chayka’s Statement on Berube’s Departure
Chayka released a statement regarding the departure of Craig Berube.
“Craig is a tremendous coach and an even better person,” said Chayka.
Chayka added, “This decision is more reflective of an organizational shift and an opportunity for a fresh start than it is an evaluation of Craig. We are grateful for his leadership, professionalism and commitment to the Maple Leafs organization and wish Craig and his family nothing but the best moving forward.”
Search for a New Head Coach
The Maple Leafs will now begin the search for a new head coach.
According to the announcement, the new head coach will have input on the makeup of the coaching staff.
The club’s next head coach will determine the makeup of the remainder of the coaching staff.
