The NBA Play-In Tournament continues with Golden State and Los Angeles facing off. The loser will be eliminated and the winner will play Phoenix on Friday.
Clippers Take Control in Fourth Quarter
The Clippers began the fourth quarter with Mathurin, Miller, Sanders, Collins, and Lopez on the court. Los Angeles started the fourth with a 9-2 run, giving them a game-high 13-point lead. With Gary Payton II in for Steph Curry, Los Angeles tightened its grasp on this must-win game. At the 9:27 mark, Curry returned to the game. The Clippers lead 94-85 with 9:40 remaining.
Warriors Plagued by Turnovers
Gui Santos lost the ball out of bounds, adding to the Warriors’ turnover woes. The Warriors have racked up 19 turnovers. Los Angeles has capitalised, converting those miscues into 33 points.
Curry’s Efforts Not Enough
Steph Curry had a strong third quarter, scoring 16 points and hitting multiple three-pointers. Despite Curry’s efforts, the Warriors only managed to slightly reduce their deficit. They trail by six at the end of the third quarter, with the Clippers leading 89-83. Bennedict Mathurin has been a revelation off the bench, making four of his five 3-pointers, and the Clippers are staying a step ahead of the Warriors. One quarter remains to determine who advances.
Horford Struggles off the Bench
Al Horford’s performance off the bench has been tough for the Warriors. Horford has more turnovers (two) than made field goals (one) and has missed all three of his 3-pointers. He’s also a staggering -26 in +/-! This is the first time that Bennedict Mathurin has made more than two 3s in a game with the Clippers.
Sixteen third-quarter points for Steph Curry! Curry hits from 30 feet to invigorate the Warriors’ offense, then hits from 28 feet out to cut the Golden State deficit to 5 poin
