Clayton Kershaw Replaced on USA’s WBC Semifinals Roster

Kershaw Out, Hoffman In for USA

Clayton Kershaw will not feature for the United States in the World Baseball Classic semifinals. He has been replaced on the roster by Jeff Hoffman.

The move was made following the U.S. victory over Canada on Friday night. This comes in advance of their semifinal match against the Dominican Republic on Sunday.

Kershaw’s Tournament Status

Kershaw, a three-time National League Cy Young Award winner, retired at the end of last year after 18 MLB seasons. He came out of retirement to play for Team USA.

Kershaw has not pitched in any of the team’s five games in the WBC.

Despite being removed from the roster, Kershaw will remain with the team for the rest of the tournament.

Hoffman’s Background

The 33-year-old Hoffman spent last season with the Toronto Blue Jays. He recorded a 9-7 record with a 4.37 ERA in 71 games.
