Chivas Overtake Liga BBVA MX Lead After León Victory

Chivas have moved to the top of the Liga BBVA MX Clausura 2026 table. Their victory over León in their rearranged match from Jornada 9 puts them in first place with 27 points. Gabriel Milito’s side have overtaken Cruz Azul and Toluca, who now sit in second and third place respectively.

González Closes in on Top Scorer

The goalscoring charts are also seeing some movement. Armando González, nicknamed ‘La Hormiga’, is now in contention for the top scorer award. His goal in the win against León means he now has nine goals in the Clausura 2026.

González is closely following Joao Pedro, the Atlético de San Luis player who currently leads the way with 10 goals. Paulinho, Toluca’s three-time golden boot winner, is in third place in the scoring charts. He is also set to be called up by Portugal for their friendly against Mexico on 28 March.

Other Notable Goalscorers

José Paradela of Cruz Azul is currently fourth in the scoring charts with five goals. He is joined on that mark by Salomón Rondón of Tuzos, Juninho of Pumas, Arturo González of Atlas, Kevin Castañeda of Xolos and Diber Cambindo of León.

What’s Next for Chivas and León?

Atlético de San Luis will face León in Jornada 12 of the Clausura 2026. Joao Pedro will be hoping to add to his goal tally in that match. Armando González and Chivas will be on the road against Rayados de Monterrey in their next fixture.

The Clausura 2026 campaign continues to deliver excitement both at the top of the table and in the race for the golden boot.
