The Chicago Bulls are reportedly seeking an exit strategy for Jaden Ivey following recent social media comments made by the player. A league source indicated the Bulls’ decision on Monday afternoon.
Bulls Unhappy with Ivey’s Contribution
The Bulls reportedly wanted to see more from Jaden Ivey than the four games he played before knee issues sidelined him. The organisation’s desire to see more from him has now ceased, according to a source.
Social Media Posts Cause Concern
Ivey’s recent social media activity appears to be a key factor in the Bulls’ decision. There were red flags around Ivey last month when he held an impromptu postgame sermon about the “Old Jaden Ivey” being dead, especially now that “Christ was in his life.”
Over the last few weeks, he reportedly used his social media account to preach his beliefs and condemn those he felt weren’t “saved.”
LGBTQ Comments Deemed ‘Final Straw’
The “final straw” reportedly came on Monday when Ivey made comments about the LGBTQ community. He went on a rant saying, “The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does too. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’ “
Exit Strategy in Motion
According to an NBA source, the Bulls are working with the league on an exit strategy from Ivey because of these latest social media comments. Ivey was acquired at the trade deadline from Detroit in the Kevin Huerter deal. He was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 draft.
