Chelsea Face Transfer Ban and Fine for Breaching Rules

Chelsea have been hit with a hefty fine and a suspended transfer ban for breaching Premier League rules. The club admitted to making £47m in secret payments to unregistered agents and third-parties over transfers between 2011 and 2018.

Details of the Punishment

The Premier League has fined Chelsea £10m. In addition to the fine, the club received a suspended transfer ban.

Chelsea also face an immediate nine-month academy transfer ban. This relates to the registration of academy players between 2019 and 2022. A £750,000 fine was also levied in connection with the academy breaches.

The Premier League’s report highlighted a number of transfers linked to the unregistered payments. These included deals involving Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto’o, Willian and Ramires.
