Canada vs Tunisia: Priso to Start at Centre-Back in Friendly

The Canadian men’s national team are back at it on Tuesday night, welcoming World Cup-bound Tunisia to BMO Field for the second Toronto friendly of this March international window.

Rain and lightning in the area have delayed kickoff by 45 minutes, with Canada Soccer announcing a hopeful 8:30 p.m. kickoff.

Marsch Seeks Improved Start

Jesse Marsch will want to see his CanMNT start stronger than the did on Saturday afternoon, conceding two goals within the opening 25 minutes. If not for Jonathan David’s brace from the penalty spot, the mood ahead of Tuesday’s friendly would be very different.

Marsch’s lineup will certainly look different.

Maxime Crépeau will start between the sticks after Dayne St. Clair backstopped Canada in the first match. Richie Laryea seems very likely to keep his starting role at left-back with the continued absence of Alphonso Davies. Who starts next to him in the centre of defence is another question.

Priso’s Opportunity in Defence

Former TFC midfielder Ralph Priso will get the chance to show in a Canada shirt why he has become a trusted central defender by Jesper Sørensen in Vancouver.

Osorio’s Potential Role

Jonathan Osorio came on for the final 26 minutes, plus stoppage time, against Iceland. The Toronto FC captain replaced Mathieu Choiniere in midfield. With Ismaël Koné back from suspension, Osorio is unlikely to start, but could again see another 20-plus minutes on his home turf.

Oluwaseyi to Partner David

Against Iceland on Saturday, Marsch started his familiar strike partnership of Jonathan David and Cyle Larin. But the American tipped his hand, as he regularly does, that Tani Oluwaseyi will start next to David against Tunisia.
