Bruins Face Lightning in Crucial Playoff Match

The Boston Bruins’ postseason destiny rests on their match against the Tampa Bay Lightning at TD Garden. Puck drop is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Head coach Marco Sturm expressed his hopes for the team. “Hopefully, it is going to be a great day for the Boston Bruins. The guys deserve everything. Playing that great all season long. Hopefully, we get rewarded today, this afternoon,” he said. “We are going to try to do everything in our power to make this happen.”

Bruins Aim to Clinch Playoff Berth

If the Bruins secure a win, they will clinch a spot in the 2026 NHL playoffs. The Lightning have already secured their place. They currently sit in third place in the Atlantic Division with 102 points, while the Bruins hold the first wild-card slot with 96 points.

Saturday’s game marks the fourth and final time the two teams will meet this regular season.

Sturm’s Strategy Against Tampa Bay

Sturm acknowledged the challenge Tampa Bay presents. “High-end skill and players in their lineup,” he said. “Overall, we’ve done a really good job; we just didn’t finish it [against them]. A lot of times it’s 40 minutes; the other game was 50 minutes. We’ve just got to make sure we’re going to put 60 minutes here tonight, because they’re that good.”

Eyssimont Returns to the Lineup

Mikey Eyssimont is set to return to the lineup for the first time since April 4. The former Tampa Bay forward will join Fraser Minten and Marat Khusnutdinov on the third line, replacing Alex Steeves. Eyssimont has recorded 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 53 games.

Swayman will start in net for Boston. There are no other changes to the lineup, according to Sturm.

The Bruins will be looking to put in a full 60-minute performance against a strong Lightning team, as they aim to secure their playoff spot.
