The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly willing to listen to trade offers for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr., drafted 23rd overall in 2024, had a strong rookie season but saw a dip in production in 2025.
The New England Patriots, in search of a No. 1 receiver, could be a potential destination, although concerns exist about his fit with the team’s culture.
Jaguars Open to Offers
Connor Hughes of SNY-TV reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars could move 23-year-old receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
The Jets reportedly made calls on Brian Thomas at the trade deadline last year but he was not available.
Hughes wrote on X that “The belief now, from multiple sources, is that the Jaguars are willing to listen. Won’t be cheap.”
Thomas’s NFL Performance
Brian Thomas Jr. made an immediate impact as a rookie, recording 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns.
However, his production declined in 2025, with 48 catches for 707 yards and two touchdowns while missing three games.
Despite the dip in production, Thomas remains a top talent.
Patriots’ Potential Interest and Concerns
Brian Thomas Jr. instantly would become New England’s No. 1 receiver.
There’s a potential issue: Thomas drew harsh criticism last season for appearing to shy away from contact and playing with low effort.
It’s fair to wonder whether Mike Vrabel would want to add that kind of player after working so hard to build a culture of hard work and accountability in his first season as the Patriots’ head coach.
Even if he wanted a player like Thomas, would he be willing to forfeit the draft capital likely required to trade for him?
Fit with the Patriots
A.J. Brown seemingly is most Patriots fans’ top choice for a receiver trade target this offseason.
Ultimately, Thomas feels like a poor fit for the Patriots despite their glaring need for a top receiver.
But players like him, particularly at his age, don’t become available often, so he’s a name worth keeping an eye on.
Despite concerns about his work ethic, players with his talent are rarely available, making him a player to watch.
