Braves Face Diamondbacks as Holmes Takes the Mound in Arizona

The Atlanta Braves are riding high after a dominant victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Following their 17-2 win, the Braves will look to continue their momentum in the second game of the four-game series in Phoenix.

Holmes Gets the Nod for Atlanta

Grant Holmes is set to start for the Braves. The 30-year-old right-hander made his first full-time major league start last season on a depleted staff. He pitched 115 innings with a 3.99 ERA and 4.40 FIP. An elbow injury sidelined him for the final two months of the season.

In his 2026 debut against Kansas City, Holmes allowed three runs on five hits over five innings, taking the loss.

Rodriguez to Start for Diamondbacks

Eduardo Rodriguez will start for the Diamondbacks. He is in his third season with Arizona. He previously played for Boston and Detroit. In his season debut against the Dodgers on March 28, Rodriguez allowed one unearned run on four hits over five innings.

The Diamondbacks blew a 2-0 lead in the final four innings, meaning Rodriguez did not factor into the decision.

Rodriguez started Venezuela’s 3-2 World Baseball Classic championship game win over the United States on March 17. He allowed just one hit over 4 1/3 scoreless innings.

Acuña Jr. Awaits First Homer

Ronald Acuña Jr. is set to face his Venezuelan teammate Rodriguez. Acuña Jr. is still looking for his first homer of the season.

National Broadcast

The game will be broadcast nationally on Apple TV. It is the first of two consecutive national TV broadcasts.

Game time is 9:45 p.m. EDT at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.

The Braves are looking to continue their strong start to the season.
