The Boozer brothers, Cameron and Cayden, have made an impact in their first March Madness appearance, following in their father’s footsteps as they aim to lead Duke to a National Championship. The fraternal twin brothers played a key role in Duke’s narrow 71-65 victory over Siena in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament.
Cayden Boozer scored a career-high 19 points, while Cameron Boozer achieved his 20th double-double of the season. Their next game is against No. 9 ranked Texas Christian University on Saturday March 21.
A Family Legacy on the Court
Cayden and Cameron are the sons of two-time NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, who previously starred for Duke and led them to an NCAA title in 2001. Their mother is CeCe. The twins’ older brother, Carmani Boozer, had sickle cell anemia, but his twin brothers were genetic matches and provided the eventual cure for his disease. Carlos and CeCe Boozer divorced in 2015 after 13 years of marriage, but both regularly attend Cayden and Cameron’s basketball games.
Rising Stars from Miami
Born on July 18, 2007, in Utah, the Boozer twins were raised in Miami, Florida. They achieved significant success at Christopher Columbus High School, leading the team to four consecutive State Championship titles. Both became five-star Division 1 recruits.
Cameron Boozer’s Impressive Season
Cameron Boozer, a forward, has had a remarkable first season, earning ACC Player of the Year, ACC Rookie of the Year, and First Team All-ACC honours. He finished the regular season with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists against North Carolina. According to the team, he is the only Division I player in the last 30 seasons to post 25+ points, 15+ rebounds and 5+ assists in a regulation win over an AP top-25 opponent.
Cayden Boozer’s Playmaking Ability
Cayden Boozer, a guard, concluded the regular season with at least three assists in seven of the final eight games.
Carlos Boozer’s Duke Legacy
Their father, Carlos Boozer, holds the record for Duke’s all-time highest field goal percentage. During his three years at Duke, he contributed to 95 victories. He also secured three ACC Championships and three final AP No. 1 rankings and was inducted into the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
From Duke to the NBA and Olympics
Carlos Boozer was drafted into the NBA in 2002 in the second round by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Duke Athletics reports that he played 861 games and scored 13,976 points over his 13 years in the league. Carlos Boozer is a two-time Olympic medalist, winning bronze in 2004 and gold in 2008 with Team USA.
The Boozer twins look to continue their March Madness journey as they face Texas Christian University.
