Ramirez Defends Cruiserweight Titles

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez defended his WBA and WBO unified cruiserweight titles against David Benavidez. Ramirez, a former super middleweight champion, became a two-division champion with a decision win over Arsen Goulamirian in March 2024. He then defeated Chris Billam-Smith to add the WBO title to his collection.

Ramirez’s record stands at 48-1 with 30 KOs. His only defeat came against Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title in November 2022. Since then, he has won four fights, including a victory against Yuniel Dorticos this past June.

Benavidez Aims for Another Title

David Benavidez, with a record of 31-0 and 25 KOs, is the current WBC light heavyweight champion. He secured the interim belt against Oleksandr Gvozdyk and was later upgraded to a full titlist last year.

Benavidez previously held the WBC super middleweight title on two occasions from 2017 to 2020. In his last fight, Benavidez stopped Anthony Yarde this past November in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Munguia in Co-Feature Bout

Armando Resendiz defended his WBA super middleweight title against Jaime Munguia in the night’s co-feature. Resendiz has a record of 16-2 with 11 KOs, while Munguia’s record is 45-2 with 35 KOs.

The Benavidez vs. Ramirez prelims began at 5:30 p.m. ET. The main card started at 8 p.m. ET on Prime Video and DAZN pay-per-view. Main event ring walks were expected around 11:30 p.m. ET.

Inoue Retains Title

Naoya Inoue retained his undisputed super bantamweight title with a decision (116-112, 116-112, 115-113) over Junto Nakatani. The fight was described as the biggest in Japanese history.

Walker Secures KO Victory

Conah Walker produced a come-from-behind KO victory over Sam Eggington. The fight is being considered a British Fight of the Year contender.
