Ohio State’s Ben Davino emerged victorious in a tightly contested 133-pound semifinal match against Penn State’s Marcus Blaze.
A Hard-Fought Victory for Davino
The match on Friday, March 20, was the third showdown between Blaze and Davino. The pro-Ohio State crowd reacted when they thought Davino secured a winning takedown in sudden victory that was not called. The crowd also reacted when it was not overturned on review.
Davino ultimately secured the win on riding time in tiebreakers.
Blaze to Consolation Semifinals
Blaze, now 24-2, has lost both matches to Davino. He now heads to Saturday’s consolation semifinals.
Davino to Face Forrest in Title Bout
Davino is set to face Jax Forrest in the title bout. Forrest defeated Virginia Tech’s Aaron Seidel.
