The BCCI has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for India’s T20 World Cup-winning side.
This follows India’s successful defence of their T20 World Cup title.
India’s World Cup Victory
India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in Ahmedabad on Sunday. India posted 255 for 5, with half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.
Jasprit Bumrah then took 4 for 15 in his four overs, denting New Zealand’s chase.
A Record-Breaking Win
India have now won the T20 World Cup for a record third time.
West Indies and England have both won the title twice apiece. India are also the first team to win successive men’s T20 World Cups. No defending champion had even made it to the final previously. India are also the first team to win the tournament at home.
BCCI’s Statement
“The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” the BCCI said in a statement.
India men are the current holders of the Champions Trophy and the T20 World Cup titles and have a chance to add the ODI World Cup title to their kitty next year.
