Arsenal’s New Kit: A Nod to the Emirates Era

Arsenal are preparing to sport their new home kit, with the design celebrating 20 years at the Emirates Stadium. The club will finish the current term in their 2025-26 home kit. This continues a recent tradition, similar to when Arsenal wore the 2023-24 season’s kit in a final-day title-decider against Everton.

Emirates Inspiration in the Design

The body of the shirt bears a resemblance to this season’s kit. However, it does not feature the Gothic A design that was synonymous with Arsenal in the 90s.

The Arsenal crest remains all-white. This marks four seasons since the red, blue and gold crest has been used on a home shirt. While some supporters may take issue with that, the all-white version provides a clean look.

Adidas references a “bespoke crewneck collar inspired by the sweeping rooflines” of the Emirates. The Adidas stripes of the new kit evoke memories of the home shirt used from 2008 until 2010. The chunky three stripes (two darker shades of red either side of the lightest stripe) feels like a nod to that shirt even if it has not been explicitly mentioned.

Long Sleeves and Design Details

Most of the photos released of Arsenal’s new kit feature players wearing short sleeves. Gabriel is shown wearing long sleeves from a distance. Those are cuffed with red lightning patterns that can be seen across the neckline.

Those cuffs are more of a trim than the ones that appeared on last season’s long-sleeved shirts, though.

2026 feels like the year of full-circle moments for Arsenal. Aside from challenging for the Premier League, they have also reached the Champions League final for the first time since 2006.
