Former champion Anastasia Potapova brushed aside Shuai Zhang to reach the round of 16 in Linz. The 2023 winner posted a 6-4 6-4 success to set up a second career clash with Tamara Korpatsch.
Tamara Korpatsch raised an eyebrow with an excellent 4-6 6-1 6-4 success over sixth seed Jaqueline Cristian.
Korpatsch and Potapova’s Previous Encounter
There’s not much between these two in terms of ranking with Potapova sitting in 97th spot and just 12 places better off on the WTA ladder.
Korpatsch did win their previous encounter on clay back in 2019 and she is in decent form, suggesting this may well be a tight contest.
Potapova’s Linz Ambitions
Potapova will be keen to head back towards the top 50 with a run here and her fondness of the conditions may give her a slight edge.
