Amadou Onana: Aston Villa May Accept ‘Huge’ Offer This Summer

Amadou Onana is attracting interest from clubs across Europe, amid suggestions Aston Villa could allow him to leave this summer.

Since his £50million arrival from Everton in 2024, the 24-year-old has been a key player under Unai Emery. His performances have made him a high-profile target.

Villa’s Financial Situation Could Force Sale

Aston Villa are reluctant to see important players leave as they aim to continue their ambitious plans. However, they may be forced to cash in when the window opens.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that a “huge” offer could be enough to tempt them into a sale given their financial situation.

There is a growing feeling that Emery’s side may be forced to sell players before they can invest in the squad ahead of a difficult transfer window for Aston Villa.

Man United and Barcelona Interested

Football Insider exclusively revealed in February that Onana is on Man United’s shortlist as they aim to bolster their midfield options under Michael Carrick.

The Belgium international has been a long-term target at Old Trafford since his time at Everton, where he had also attracted interest from Barcelona.

Emery views the 24-year-old as an important part of his side, but there is a growing feeling he could be among the players considered for a big-money exit.

Onana Hints at Move to ‘World-Class Club’

Brown told Football Insider in February that Onana is edging towards leaving Aston Villa as he put his future at Villa Park in doubt with a revealing interview.

The 24-year-old hinted at wanting to make the next step in his career when speaking to the media as he confessed his desire to join a “world-class club”.

Onana said he feels like he’s matured and that he’s played his best football ever, with Unai Emery helping him progress.

It has been suggested that both Man United and Barcelona, who have previously been interested, could fit that bill if he decides to pursue a move away.

Villa Need to Sell to Spend

Brown said that Aston Villa don’t have the room to spend money unless they sell players.

He added that Onana is one who he wouldn’t be surprised to see go if a huge offer came in from a top club, as Villa might see him as somebody they can cash in on.

Brown stated that Unai Emery, ideally, wouldn’t be losing any of his best players because he wants to build on the success they’ve had, but it’s difficult with their finances.
