Fox Sports has revealed its on-air talent for the FIFA World Cup this summer. The tournament, featuring an expanded field, will take place across North America.
With the United States co-hosting, and football’s increasing popularity stateside, Fox anticipates strong viewership for its live broadcasts. A media day is scheduled in New York for Fox Sports to detail their coverage plans.
Lalas Among US Soccer Veterans in Fox Line-Up
Alexi Lalas is among the US Soccer veterans anchoring Fox Sports’ studio analyst team. He will be joined by Carli Lloyd, Clint Dempsey, and Landon Donovan. Donovan will also serve as a match analyst during game telecasts.
The tournament is set to run from June 11 to July 19. It will be held across 16 sites in the US, Canada, and Mexico. A total of 48 teams will play 104 matches.
Other international figures slated as studio analysts include Thierry Henry (France), Zlatan Ibrahimović (Sweden), Clarence Seedorf (Netherlands), Javier “Chicharito” Hernández (Mexico), John Obi Mikel (Nigeria), Thiago Alcântara (Spain), Juan Pablo Ángel (Colombia) and Peter Schmeichel (Denmark).
Hosts Announced for On-Site and Studio Coverage
Rob Stone, Rebecca Lowe, Jules Breach and Pien Meulensteen will anchor on-site and studio coverage for Fox. Studio analyst and host assignments will be announced before the tournament commences.
Fox Sports President Praises On-Air Team
Brad Zager, Fox Sports president and executive producer, announced the talent lineup. He said the on-air team “features some of the most dynamic personalities and soccer legends Fox Sports has ever assembled.”
Zager believes the team will “instantly connect with fans and become America’s definitive voices for the anticipated tournament.”
Fox has broadcast the last two men’s World Cups (2018 and 2022), alongside women’s World Cups in 2015, 2019 and 2023.
