Alcaraz Remains Sole Spanish Hope at Indian Wells

Carlos Alcaraz is the sole Spanish player left in the Masters 1000 ATP at Indian Wells. The world number one is aiming for his third final in the tournament.

Alcaraz will face Daniil Medvedev, whom he beat in 2023 and 2024 to become a two-time champion.

Alcaraz’s Path to the Final

If Alcaraz overcomes Medvedev, he would compete for the title on Sunday at 22:00 hours. His semi-final opponent would be either Alexander Zverev or Jannik Sinner.

Doubles Hopes Dashed

Marcel Granollers and his Argentinian partner Horacio Zeballos lost in the doubles semi-finals. They were defeated by Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard 6-7 (13), 6-3 and 10-5, ending Spanish hopes in the category.

Andreozzi and Guinard will face Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot in the final. Rinderknech and Vacherot defeated Yuki Bhambri and Andre Goransson 7-5, 6-7 (3) and 10-5.

Granollers and Zeballos’ Season So Far

Granollers and Zeballos were the top seeds in the tournament. They were finalists in 2024.

Despite consistent performances, they have yet to win a title this season. They reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open and the final at the ATP 500 in Dallas.

Granollers is currently ranked number 3 in the world, behind his partner Horacio Zeballos. They are both closing in on the number 1 spot, currently held by Neal Skupski. Skupski leads Zeballos by 50 points and Granollers by 140.
