Friday night’s scheduled game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Kansas City Royals has been postponed. Persistent rain and the potential for storms throughout the evening were cited as the reasons for the postponement, which was announced approximately 90 minutes before the first pitch.
Doubleheader Scheduled for Saturday
The postponed game will be played as part of a doubleheader on Saturday. The originally scheduled game has been moved to 1:10 p.m. local time, while Friday night’s game will commence at 6:10 p.m. at Kauffman Stadium.
Interestingly, the rain had not yet started when the decision to postpone the game was made. The Brewers were actually engaged in batting practice. Stadium workers were on standby with the tarps, ready to cover the field as soon as the team concluded their practice.
Pitching Matchups to be Confirmed
The pitching matchups for Saturday’s split doubleheader have not yet been confirmed. It had been planned that Luinder Avila was to be recalled from Triple-A Omaha to start against the Brewers’ Chad Patrick on Friday night. Saturday’s game was initially set to feature Milwaukee rookie Brandon Sproat and Kansas City right-hander Seth Lugo.
The Brewers and Royals will now prepare for a busy Saturday with two games on the schedule.
