Jack Rudoni Scores as Coventry City Beat Derby County 3-2

Jack Rudoni found the net for Coventry City in their 3-2 victory over Derby County. The match saw a number of substitutions and attacking opportunities for both sides, with Coventry ultimately securing the win.

Rudoni’s Goal Puts Coventry Ahead

Rudoni’s goal came after Van Ewijk was sent into space down the right. Van Ewijk reached the byline and cut the ball back for Rudoni. Rudoni trapped the ball but slipped, inadvertently sending the Derby defence the wrong way. He recovered, shifted the ball to his left, and scored with a low shot into the bottom right corner.

Substitutions Disrupt the Flow

Multiple substitutions from both teams impacted the rhythm of the game. Coventry made a triple change, with Mason-Clark, Wright and Rudoni replacing Eccles, Simms and Esse. Derby County substituted Morris for Agyemang.

Coventry’s Attacking Pressure

After the break, Coventry dominated in the final third, completing 35 passes to Derby’s four. Grimes cut Derby apart with a slide down the inside-right channel, releasing Van Ewijk, though the cutback was no good. Esse slipped Dasilva into space down the left, but Dasilva’s low cross was cleared by Murkin.

Derby’s Missed Opportunities

Derby had their own chances, with Eccles intercepting Ward’s backpass and facing down O’Donnell. Eccles aimed for the bottom right, but the keeper blocked the shot. Simms hoicked the rebound over the bar. Brereton Diaz crossed low and hard, but Thomas’ attempted interception failed, and Banel’s clunky first touch allowed Thomas to recover and clear.

Coventry got a bit sloppy at one point when Onyeka nearly gifted possession to Ozoh. Travis cynically walked into the path of Esse, resulting in a free kick.
