White Sox vs Blue Jays Home Opener Postponed Due to Weather

The White Sox home opener against the Blue Jays has been postponed.

Thursday’s game at Rate Field was called off due to a forecast of inclement weather.

Rescheduled Game Details

The White Sox home opener is now scheduled for Friday, with first pitch at 1:10 p.m. CT.

The pitching matchups will remain as scheduled. Sean Burke is set to face Dylan Cease in Game 1, with Anthony Kay slated to pitch opposite Eric Lauer in the second game of the series. Toronto’s starter for Sunday has yet to be announced.

Manager’s Perspective

White Sox manager Will Venable said the postponement was a “good thing.” Chicago returns from a six-game road trip to open the season, during which it earned just one win against Miami after being swept by Milwaukee in its opening series.

“As poorly as it went, these guys have been working extremely hard. It’s one of those [times] where I think we can use the day to recharge, reset and be ready to go on Friday,” Venable said following Wednesday’s 10-0 loss to the Marlins at loanDepot park.
