Wrexham Eager to Resume Promotion Bid After International Break

Wrexham are ready to resume their Championship campaign after the international break, with manager Phil Parkinson stating his players are eager to get going.

Parkinson’s side are currently seventh in the Championship, level on points with sixth-place Southampton, who occupy the final play-off spot and who Wrexham host next Tuesday.

Wrexham’s Preparations During the Break

Parkinson said Wrexham have used the break to their advantage. He said the aim was to get injured players closer to recovery to increase squad options.

Parkinson added that players who have played a lot recently have had time off. He said the players have had a few days away from the club with their families, which he feels is important for mental refreshment.

Injury Updates and Recovery News

Liberato Cacace is set to have another scan on his hamstring injury, which has kept him out since February, according to Parkinson.

However, Parkinson had positive news regarding the recoveries of Kieffer Moore, Matty James and Ben Sheaf.

“Kieffer’s made really good progress in this last week and we’re really pleased with that.”

Parkinson confirmed that Matty James has been running on the grass. Ben Sheaf is also out on the grass running.

Upcoming Fixtures and Opponents

Wrexham have seven Championship games remaining, starting with a visit to West Bromwich Albion on Friday. Three of those seven games are against teams currently in the Championship’s top six.

Parkinson said that Wrexham will have a large away following at the Hawthorns. Tickets sold out almost instantaneously.

Wrexham will face a West Brom team who were undefeated in four games before the international break and are four points above the Championship relegation zone.

Reflecting on the Win Against Sheffield United

Wrexham will be looking to maintain their play-off push after a 2-1 comeback win at Sheffield United before the international break.

“It was a brilliant win for us, it really was,” Parkinson said of the win at Bramall Lane.

Parkinson said that although some people thought they would be ready for a break after the win, he thinks they were happy to continue playing.

Wrexham are eager to get going against West Brom.
