The Atlanta Hawks secured a dominant victory over the Orlando Magic, while the Boston Celtics triumphed over the Miami Heat. The Toronto Raptors, however, suffered a defeat at home against the Sacramento Kings.
Hawks Soar Past Magic
Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the charge for the Hawks, scoring 32 points in their 130-101 win against the Magic. Jalen Johnson contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds. Dyson Daniels added 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Atlanta shot 51 percent from the field and controlled the boards, 52-36. The Hawks took control of the game in the second quarter, scoring 47 points.
The Hawks have now won 17 of their last 19 games. They have also swept the season series against Orlando and hold a 3.5-game lead in the Southeast Division.
Celtics Overpower Heat
Jaylen Brown scored 43 points, and Jayson Tatum recorded his first triple-double of the season with 25 points, 18 rebounds, and 11 assists as the Celtics defeated the Heat, 147-129.
The Celtics scored 53 points in the first quarter, setting a franchise record. That point total is tied for the second-most in any opening quarter in NBA history. They hit 11 of their first 13 shots and ended the quarter on a 24-3 run.
- Boston is now 31-0 when scoring at least 117 points.
Raptors Fall to Kings
The Raptors lost to the Kings in Toronto, 123-115. That defeat caused them to lose ground in the race for a top-six seed in the East. Their five-game home winning streak was snapped.
RJ Barrett and Collin Murray-Boyles each scored 20 points for Toronto. Murray-Boyles reached that mark for the first time in his career. Jakob Poeltl added 18 points, while Scottie Barnes finished with 14 points and 10 assists.
The Raptors are now tied with the 76ers for sixth in the East, with Philadelphia holding the tiebreaker.
