Vijaykumar Vyshak Aims for India Debut After IPL Preparation

Vijaykumar Vyshak, a fast bowler from Karnataka who plays for Punjab Kings, has aspirations of joining the Indian cricket team. The pacer was part of the T20I setup during the South Africa series.

Vyshak’s IPL 2026 Preparation

Vyshak says he knows his role well and has been working on it. He feels he has gained confidence from bowling a lot of overs. He believes he will perform better this year as he wants to keep improving as a bowler and cricketer.

Regarding the Punjab Kings’ aspirations for the upcoming season, Vyshak noted the team’s desire to lift the trophy. He said the team was hurt last year watching another team win. He added that the team has come fresh this year with the intention of winning the trophy.

According to Vyshak, Shreyas Iyer’s leadership is exceptional, and the coach is giving the team a lot of confidence. He believes the team is in a great space and is confident they will win the trophy this year.

Eyes on Representing India

When asked about his next big target, Vyshak said that he prefers to take things one day at a time to avoid putting pressure on himself.

He is looking forward to playing for India in the coming season. He said he was part of the South Africa T20 series and, although he did not get a chance to play, he believes he will make his debut in the coming season and perform well for his country.

Facing Challenges and Opportunities

Vyshak acknowledged the challenge of stepping up in the absence of Lockie Ferguson in the Punjab Kings’ pace attack. He recognises that a lot of responsibility will fall on him, alongside Arshdeep Singh, who is spearheading the attack.

He describes this as an amazing challenge. He said Lockie is an amazing bowler and that he will be missed.

“Honestly, the more I think forward, the more I put pressure on myself. I would say I’m just going to take one day at a time. I am someone who has always done that.

“But if there is something that I am looking forward to, it is playing for India in the coming season. I was part of the South Africa T20 series, and though I didn’t get a chance, I know that I’m going to play in the coming season, make my debut, and do really well for my country.”
