Jason Cundy Criticises Chelsea Player’s Footballing Brain

Jason Cundy has singled out a Chelsea player, saying his “brain doesn’t think like a natural footballer.” Interestingly, Cundy made these remarks while also complimenting the player.

Cundy’s Assessment of Sanchez

Cundy was discussing goalkeeper Robert Sanchez’s performance in the game against Arsenal. He prefaced his criticism with praise for Sanchez’s recent form for Chelsea.

Cundy’s comments, cited on X, included the following observation: “I’ve not seen that performance [vs Arsenal] from [Robert] Sanchez with the ball at his feet for probably about a year now.”

He continued: “I feel for Sanchez, because clearly he’s been asked by Liam Rosenior to draw Arsenal onto us. And the problem he’s got is his brain doesn’t think like a natural footballer.”

Sanchez’s Strengths and Weaknesses

Cundy believes Sanchez has shown improvement lately. However, he feels Sanchez is not good enough when playing it short from the back. He argues that Sanchez appears more comfortable when he is allowed to vary his play and go long occasionally.

Cundy advocates for playing to a player’s strengths. He suggests that constantly playing it short only makes Sanchez more nervous.

Rosenior Calls for Rule Change

Following the defeat to Arsenal, Liam Rosenior has called for a rule change regarding corners.

Reece James’ father is set to work with Dastan Satpaev in his youth academy.
