Knicks’ Playoff Push
New York enters the game riding a seven-game winning streak, tied for the longest active win streak in the NBA. A win against the Hornets would clinch a playoff spot for the Knicks. They currently sit a half-game behind the Boston Celtics for the 2-seed in the East, after Boston’s win against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Hornets Aim to Climb
The Charlotte Hornets have been on a strong run of their own, winning their past four games. Since January 22, they have the league’s second-best record. Kon Knueppel is considered the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year honours.
However, Knueppel has struggled against the Knicks this season. In two games against New York, both Hornets losses, he’s averaging just 9.5 points on 25% shooting.

Elsewhere on Thursday, the Detroit Pistons are hosting the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans were officially eliminated from postseason contention on Tuesday night. The Orlando Magic welcome the Sacramento Kings, with the Magic looking to end a six-game skid.
Kings fans might also be interested in the men’s NCAA tournament, where projected top-five pick Darius Acuff Jr. and Arkansas will take on top-seeded Arizona. The Kings have a 48% chance of ending up with a top-four pick in May’s draft lottery.
