Liverpool to Face Wrexham at Yankee Stadium in July

Liverpool are scheduled to play Wrexham at Yankee Stadium in July as the Welsh club continues its push into the U.S. market. The match is part of a series that will see Wrexham compete against Leeds United, Sunderland, and Liverpool, with games held in several American cities.

Wrexham’s Pre-Season U.S. Tour

This marks Wrexham’s third U.S. tour. They previously travelled across the Atlantic in 2023, where they secured a victory against Manchester United, and again in 2024, when Chelsea managed a late draw.

The upcoming fixture will be Wrexham’s first appearance at the home of the New York Yankees.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said they are looking forward to returning to the U.S. as part of their pre-season preparations. He added that they have had terrific support on their last trips to the States, and they can’t wait to see their supporters out there again, while also playing against three quality opponents in matches that will play a key part in them getting ready for the 2026/27 campaign.

Potential Premier League Implications for Wrexham

Wrexham may even travel to the U.S. as a Premier League club, having enjoyed an excellent return to England’s second tier. Parkinson’s side are currently in sixth place in the Championship.

A three-game winning streak has propelled them four points above Southampton, their nearest challengers for the final playoff spot.

  • Wrexham’s first game of the tour will be against Leeds at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on July 25.
  • The match at Yankee Stadium comes four days later.
  • Wrexham will conclude their series on Aug. 2 with a game against Sunderland in Mac’s hometown at Subaru Park, the home of Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union.

Liverpool’s U.S. Pre-Season Schedule

Liverpool will play Sunderland at Nashville’s GEODIS Park on July 25. Their final game will be at Soldier Field in Chicago against Leeds on Aug. 2.

The last match between Wrexham and Liverpool was nearly 20 years ago, in a friendly at the Racecourse Ground in 2007. The last competitive fixture between the teams was in 1978, when a hattrick from Kenny Dalglish helped Liverpool to a 3-1 win in the League Cup.
