Gordon Defends Himself Against Pundit Criticism
Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon has responded to criticism from pundits Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer. The criticism followed Gordon’s second-half appearance in Newcastle’s midweek draw with Barcelona. Rooney, Shearer and Roy Keane questioned why he only played in the second half.
Gordon, speaking after Newcastle’s victory against Chelsea, said the comments needed clearing up. He stated it was “absolute nonsense” to suggest he didn’t want to play in the game against Barcelona. He clarified that he didn’t refuse to shake hands with the pundits and changed in a small changing room alone.
Shearer had said it would take “something extraordinary to keep myself out of this game”. Keane questioned why Gordon could come on as a substitute but not start.

Another writes that maybe the thing that was supposed to kill Arsenal in this title race is also the thing that has become their key point of difference: Nervous energy is still energy.
They add that Arsenal may not be free-flowing and imperious, but they always generate urgency, always play every second as though it matters.

Dagenham & Redbridge fans are hopeful that their club’s new minority owner, YouTube superstar KSI, is the real deal. A recent game between Dagenham & Redbridge and Enfield highlighted the varying ambitions of the two clubs.
Enfield, who boast about being England’s first fully fan-owned club, are losing their fight for survival. Dagenham are now nine points off the playoffs and there is an expectation they will start climbing the ladder.
Dagenham & Redbridge seemingly aspire to emulate Wrexham.
