Pat Cash recently shared a rare family moment at Wimbledon. The tennis legend posted about how special it was to have his sons by his side at the tournament where he triumphed in 1987. Cash, aged 61, called it a “special” experience to revisit the grounds.
It was at Wimbledon that he beat Ivan Lendl to win the title, and this time, two of his four children joined him. He conveyed his feelings on Instagram, sharing a photo with his boys. “Special to have my sons with me at @wimbledon today 🎾🌱 #family #wimbledon,” he wrote.

The former world No.4 is a father to Mia and Daniel. These children are from a relationship with Norwegian model Anne-Britt Kristiansen in the 1980s. Cash also shares twin boys, Shannon and Jett, with his ex-wife Emily Bendit.
His journey into fatherhood began early, becoming a parent for the first time at just 21. Later in life, he embraced the role of a grandfather, doing so at the age of 44.
Wimbledon Engagements and Personal Life
It has been a busy fortnight for Pat Cash, both during the tournament and away from the playing courts. He has been seen commentating on matches and making guest appearances throughout the event. Beyond his media duties, Cash has also been involved in mentoring rising Australian star Li Tu. Furthermore, he has been promoting his new book, which focuses on serving technique.
Cash has also been seen with his partner, Charlotte Hodson, during the tournament. Hodson, a singer/songwriter and massage therapist, joined him in the Royal Box last year. She was once again by his side at Wimbledon this week.
While Pat Cash has generally kept much of his personal life private over the years, he has opened up about his relationship with Charlotte Hodson. He was briefly linked to TV presenter Tania Zaetta back in 2011. However, Cash has opened up about how serious things are with Charlotte, admitting it took him years to find the right person.
He told The Mirror last year: “I don’t know if we’ll go down the marriage route but she’s the love of my life, that’s for sure.”
Reflecting on Past Struggles and Fatherhood
This is not the first instance where Pat Cash has spoken candidly about matters close to him. In 2014, he disclosed to The Guardian that becoming a father had, by his own words, quite literally saved him. At the time, he stated: “If it wasn’t for my kids, I might have killed myself.”
Cash explained that he had battled severe depression from age 19 to 35. He attributed this struggle to the immense pressure of playing for his country, combined with the high expectations he placed upon himself. He further added that things began to improve for him after he retired from playing professionally.
The image of the former champion smiling at Wimbledon this week presents a stark contrast to his past struggles. His presence with his sons at Wimbledon this week proves just how much quality time with his family means to him.
