The Philadelphia Eagles may be adding a new pass-rusher. It seems the Eagles are pondering a move for a Pro Bowl edge rusher.
According to reports, the Eagles have been in contact with the Minnesota Vikings about a trade for edge rusher Jonathan Greenard.
Vikings Considering Trade
The Vikings are reportedly thinking about trading Greenard this offseason, due to cap constraints. The Vikings are reportedly asking for at least a Day 2 pick in return for the 28-year-old.
The Vikings also have Andrew Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner at the edge rusher position.
Eagles Showing Strong Interest
The Eagles appear close to a trade. They’ve been in contact with Greenard’s agent about a potential new contract, should the trade go through. Greenard reportedly wants a new deal after signing a four-year, $76 million contract with the Vikings as a free agent in 2024.
Greenard’s Performance and Contract Situation
The Vikings aren’t interested in giving Greenard a raise after he recorded just three sacks in 10 games last season. A trade seems like a very real possibility.
Eagles’ Current Edge Rushers
For now, Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr. are slated to be the Eagles’ starting edge rushers. That tandem only combined for 9.5 sacks in 2025. 37-year-old Brandon Graham’s future is up in the air.
That streak could continue in 2026 too.
The Buffalo Bills have signed a Pro Bowl pass-rusher to a $43 million contract.
