The 2026 Wimbledon Championships continue today with the two women’s singles semifinal matches.
U.S. star Coco Gauff (7) faces Karolína Muchová (10) to open the action on Centre Court at SW19. The women’s semifinals will be played today, with Karolína Muchová meeting Coco Gauff for a spot in the final at the All England Club.
Muchová’s Grand Slam Experience and Wimbledon Debut
Karolína Muchová reached the 2023 French Open final but lost, marking her deepest run at a Grand Slam before this Wimbledon campaign. Her opponent, Coco Gauff, does have two Slam titles from the 2023 U.S. Open and the 2025 French Open.
Despite their past successes, both Muchová and Gauff, along with the other semifinalists, are reaching this stage at Wimbledon for the first time. This ensures that we will have a first-time Wimbledon champion, as none of the players involved in today’s women’s semifinals have ever played in a Wimbledon final.
A New Wimbledon Champion Guaranteed
Today’s semifinal matches will have a new look because the four players involved in the action have reached this level at Wimbledon for the first time. Following the Muchová versus Gauff encounter, Marta Kostyuk (12) plays Linda Nosková (9) in the second semifinal.
Two of these players, Marta Kostyuk and Linda Nosková, have never even reached a final at a Grand Slam before. The unique composition of this year’s women’s semifinals promises a fresh face lifting the trophy.
Centre Court: The Stage for Semifinal Drama
Karolína Muchová’s match will take place on Centre Court, arguably the most famous tennis court in the world. It is the main showpiece court, only ever used at the Wimbledon Championships apart from the 2012 London Olympic Games, and has a capacity of 14,979.
Distinguished guests sit in the Royal Box, with a 3,000-tonne retractable roof installed in 2009. The inscription above the entrance quotes Rudyard Kipling’s poem ‘If’: “If you can meet with triumph and disaster, and treat those two impostors just the same.”
Singles play will be on the two main show courts today, marking a gorgeous day for some elite tennis at one of the most unique sporting environments in the world. Karolína Muchová will be hoping to make her mark on this prestigious stage.
