The Cheltenham Festival is underway, with large fields and competitive races. According to one tipster, the opportunity to back talented horses at very big prices sets these big meetings apart. Day two has a particularly open look to it.
Blake’s Big-Priced Turners Hurdle Fancy
Kevin Blake has tipped Zeus Power in the Turners’ Novices’ Hurdle (1.20). Trained by Joseph O’Brien, Zeus Power is currently a 66/1 shot. Blake believes the horse may be capable of finding enough improvement to get in the mix against the odds.
Zeus Power has improved since being sent over hurdles. He won a maiden at Thurles in December. He then faced Lazare De Star at Navan, showing bravery to see off the favourite.
Blake notes that the horse would no doubt be a highly-attractive proposition in a valuable handicap hurdle off a mark of 131. However, he hopes that this tilt at Grade 1 novices’ hurdle will reward the bravery of stepping up so steeply in class. He adds that the longer trip promises to suit him well and the style of race should also play to his strengths.
Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase Pick
Blake also commented on the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (2.00). He believes that Kaid D’Authie is overpriced. He notes that the market may not want to believe the result of Kaid D’Authie beating Final Demand at the Dublin Racing Festival, but he saw no fluke about it. Kaid D’Authie put Final Demand under serious pressure from a long way out and Final Demand didn’t have the answers.
