Konate’s Liverpool Future Uncertain Amid Contract Expiry

Uncertainty surrounds Ibrahima Konate’s future at Liverpool as his contract nears its end. The France international’s contract expires at the end of June.

Konate’s Contract Situation

Despite Konate indicating last month that he intended to stay at Anfield, he is yet to sign an extension.

Jacquet and Leoni Return

Liverpool are set to welcome Jeremy Jacquet back to fitness for the start of pre-season training. The France Under-21 international has been out with a shoulder injury since February, sustained while playing for Rennes against Lens.

Jacquet’s rehab is progressing as planned, and he is expected to be available when the squad reconvenes at Kirkby in early July. Jacquet was hurt a week after Liverpool agreed a fee of £55million, plus £5m in add-ons, with Rennes.

Giovanni Leoni is also on track to be available for the start of pre-season. The Italian tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on his debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup last September.

Leoni is in the final stages of his rehab. Head coach Arne Slot recently praised him for using the time out wisely to bulk up in the gym.

Gomez’s Uncertain Future

Joe Gomez, the club’s longest-serving player, is about to enter the final year of his contract. He recently admitted that he wasn’t sure what the future held for him.

He attracted interest from AC Milan last summer, having previously come close to joining Newcastle United.

Pre-Season Preparations

With captain Virgil van Dijk away at the World Cup with the Netherlands and unlikely to be back until late in pre-season, having Jacquet and Leoni fit will be important for Liverpool.

Their presence will be important as preparations for the new campaign crank up.
