Arsenal’s satisfaction with Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly in question, despite the club’s Premier League title win. Michael Owen has stated that Arsenal are “not happy” with the Swedish striker and would be keen to find an upgrade in the mould of Thierry Henry.
Owen’s Critique of Gyokeres
Owen claims Arsenal are “not happy” with Gyokeres, despite the forward’s contributions. He suggests the club would pursue a top striker if one became available, specifically mentioning “a Thierry Henry”. Owen believes Arsenal would “move heaven and earth to get somebody like that in”. He added that while Arsenal’s current approach has brought them success, they may evolve and improve in the future.
Owen cautioned against drastic changes, referencing Liverpool’s spending. He said they have to be careful not to “ruin what they’ve got” by spending too much trying to improve the squad.
Rooney’s Praise Contrasts Owen’s View
Wayne Rooney offered a contrasting opinion, picking out Gyokeres as his Premier League signing of the season. Rooney believes “he’s given Arsenal something a bit different and that’s been a big factor in them winning the Premier League.”
Arsenal’s Title Defence Prospects
Owen also tipped Arsenal to retain their title, citing the struggles of their rivals. “This is a very, very strong, solid, efficient team that you can see they’re going to do it again,” Owen stated. He added that “Liverpool are in turmoil, Chelsea are in turmoil, they’re playing really poorly, Manchester United are upwardly mobile at the moment but they’ve still got a lot of surgeries”. According to Owen, “A lot of the top teams are struggling at the moment” which creates “an opportunity for Arsenal”.

LaLiga giants Barcelona have been linked with Arsenal duo Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus in the Spanish media.
Wayne Rooney has explained why he thinks Arsenal star Viktor Gyokeres will be a “major factor”.
