The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals are set to play again following the Brewers’ series-opening victory on Tuesday night. The roof will be open for this night game, marking the first time this season.
Henderson to IL, Crow Called Up
The Brewers have made a roster change. Logan Henderson was placed on the 15-day IL due to low back tightness. RHP Coleman Crow has been recalled to the active roster to fill Henderson’s spot. Brewers manager Pat Murphy confirmed that Crow is scheduled to pitch on Friday against the Astros.
Henderson said he felt his back tighten up while facing Freddie Freeman in the fourth inning of his last start. He hopes to resume throwing soon and is making progress in his recovery, but not enough to start tomorrow.
As for Wednesday’s starter, Murphy stated that the finale against the Cardinals will be covered by “a combination of guys already on the roster.”
Pitching Matchup: Harrison vs. McGreevy
Kyle Harrison will take the mound for the Brewers. He aims to continue his dominant pitching. Harrison has not allowed a run in his past two starts and has allowed no more than two earned runs in any start this season. In his last five starts, Harrison has allowed only three runs over 28 innings, resulting in a 0.96 ERA.
Michael McGreevy will pitch for the Cardinals. McGreevy has a 2.40 ERA in his 10 starts. He does not record a high number of strikeouts, with just 5.9 K/9, but he also limits walks, posting 1.9 BB/9. Expect more contact compared to Monday’s game, where both starters had 10-plus strikeouts.
Lineup Changes for Milwaukee
Pat Murphy is adjusting the Brewers’ lineup. Christian Yelich will bat leadoff, moving Jackson Chourio down to the second spot. Brice Turang, William Contreras, Jake Bauers, and Garrett Mitchell will occupy the middle of the order. Luis Rengifo, Sal Frelick, and David Hamilton will be at the bottom of the lineup.
The Cardinals are keeping their top of the lineup similar. JJ Wetherholt will lead off, followed by Iván Herrera, Jordan Walker, and Alec Burleson.
Opportunity to Extend Lead
The Brewers have an opportunity to extend their lead in the NL Central. The Brewers have won their last six games when Harrison has started. First pitch is at 6:40 p.m. on Brewers.TV and the Brewerse Radio Network.
