Kauno „Žalgiris“ are set to face Panevėžio „Lietkabelis“ in the semi-final of the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL).
„Žalgiris“ progressed to the semi-final after comfortably overcoming „Jonavos Hipocredit“ in the quarter-finals. They won the series 2-0.
Masiulis’s Reaction to Quarter-Final Win
„Žalgiris“ coach Tomas Masiulis noted a drop in his team’s focus after half-time in their recent match. He said that they started the game with the right attitude. However, according to Masiulis, they came out after the break with a different attitude, simply looking to run down the clock. He expressed some disappointment but stated his satisfaction with the victory and their progression to the semi-finals.
Lietkabelis Await in Tricky Semi-Final
„Lietkabelis“ also secured their place in the semi-finals with a 2-0 series victory, eliminating „Šiaulius“. Masiulis acknowledged the challenge that „Lietkabelis“ will pose. He pointed out that they have experienced players who know how to perform in important matches.
Masiulis added that while „Lietkabelis“ may have had some inconsistencies during the season, they have shown the ability to concentrate and deliver results in crucial games.
„We have to be fully prepared, a tough semi-final series awaits us. Every game we have played this season has been difficult“, said T. Masiulis about the upcoming opponents in the semi-finals.
Semi-Final Start Date Still TBD
The start date for the semi-final stage depends on the outcomes of the remaining quarter-final series. If „Juventus“ and „Neptūnas“ win their second games, the semi-finals will begin on Tuesday. Should a decisive game be needed in either of those quarter-final series, the semi-finals will be pushed back to Wednesday.
The semi-final series will be played to the best of five games.
Masiulis anticipates a challenging semi-final series against „Lietkabelis“.
