Martin Brundle Praises Antonelli’s ‘Extraordinary’ F1 Progress

Martin Brundle, the former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports analyst, has lauded Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s development, describing the young Italian’s progress during his second season as “quite extraordinary”.

Brundle made the comments during the Sky Sports F1 broadcast ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.

Antonelli’s Development

Brundle noted that Antonelli has a strong support structure around him. He also pointed out Antonelli’s ability to keep his head and shine.

Brundle highlighted the Miami Grand Prix, where Lando Norris pursued Antonelli. He said that the Antonelli of last year would probably run off the track somewhere, but this year he’s just rock solid.

Chadwick’s Perspective

Jamie Chadwick, three-time W Series champion, also commented on Antonelli’s impact. Chadwick, who joined Brundle on the broadcast, said that Antonelli has come in with amazing energy, and she believes the team have really enjoyed that.

Chadwick added that Antonelli also has the performance. She noted that he’s pushing George Russell hard and not really making that many mistakes now.

Chadwick questioned whether Antonelli is a generational talent, adding that time will tell. She stated that he’s definitely exceeding her expectations for this season.

Chadwick highlighted that Antonelli started racing not many years ago, and it’s such a fast-track journey that he’s had. She said that the fact that he’s got to this point and he’s competing at the level that he’s competing at, with the way Formula 1 is now, which is so complex, is super impressive.

Antonelli is the youngest driver to lead the championship and has won three consecutive grands prix in China, Japan and Miami.
