Jason Cundy has lauded Chelsea’s Reece James, highlighting his technical ability and physical presence. Cundy described James as a “bulldozer” with the “touch of a ballet dancer.”
Cundy’s Assessment of James’ Abilities
Cundy shared his observations on talkSPORT, praising James’ effortless style of play. “He makes the hard things look so easy,” Cundy stated. He recalled James’ performance against Arsenal, noting how he eased players out, controlled the ball, and made effective passes.
Cundy emphasised James’ technical gifts and his effective use of his physique. “Technically, he’s such a gifted player. Physically, he knows how to use that frame,” Cundy said.
James’ Return From Injury
James, now 26, has overcome recent injury problems and has eight goal contributions this season. There was some concern after James wasn’t seen in training on Monday, but he was pictured taking part in the open training session on Tuesday morning, and Chelsea have continued to manage his minutes.
He is considered a key player for Chelsea as they approach the end of the season. James has played at both right back and in midfield.
Chelsea’s Champions League Clash
Chelsea are set to face PSG in Paris on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie. The match is a repeat of the Club World Cup final.
James’ role, whether at right back or in midfield, is expected to be significant against the holders. Chelsea have continued to manage his minutes.
Colwill’s Recovery
While James appears to be past his injury concerns, Levi Colwill is still recovering from an ACL injury sustained before the season began. Colwill was seen in Chelsea’s open training session on Tuesday.
Chelsea are hopeful that Colwill will play again before the season concludes. The Blues won’t rush him back, and with nine games remaining in the league, it still feels a long shot that he’ll feature this season.
