Rain Expected During Indianapolis Motor Speedway Events

Rain is on the way for Carb Day. Isolated showers around noon will turn to scattered and widespread rain during the afternoon and evening.

A warm front is pushing north to Indiana, carrying more humidity and some rain showers. Every hour that passes by, the rain chance will go up.

Rain Timeline for Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The rain timeline will vary slightly for everyone as bands of showers drift from the south to the north. Showers will mostly be south of I-70 during the morning. More rain will fill in across the rest of Indiana by the afternoon.

Light rain is expected to approach Indianapolis by late morning. Scattered showers are likely across most of central Indiana, especially by late afternoon.

Rain will continue on-and-off all evening and tonight. The heaviest rain may be in eastern Indiana.

Cool Temperatures Expected

It will be fairly cool all day with cloudy skies. It feels cooler in the shade of clouds than direct sun rays. A light southeast wind may make it feel a bit cooler.

Highs will only reach the 60s during the afternoon.

Weekend Weather Outlook

Through Saturday afternoon, we expect a half inch to two inches across central Indiana.

Saturday morning may still be wet with leftover rain. There may be rumbles, however, we should be drying out for the Lucas Oil 500 Festival Parade in downtown Indianapolis. Things may still be a bit damp and cool with 60s, but the forecast is trending drier. Rain chances will be down to 20%.

Sunday may also have some pop-up showers and storms as temperatures heat up to the 70s with more humidity.

Memorial Day Forecast

By Memorial Day, we should be drier. There may be isolated pop-ups the rest of the week next week, but expect lots of dry time and more sunshine.
