Austin Wells Hits First Spring Home Run Before WBC Departure

Austin Wells made a statement before his WBC exit, hitting his first spring home run. The Yankees are currently in spring training.

Wells’ Home Run

In his final game before joining the WBC, Austin Wells launched a home run. The ball sailed off the bat against Blue Jays minor league righty Nate Garkow.

Cruz’s Command Issues

Fernando Cruz, another player heading to the WBC, struggled with his command during his relief inning. He issued a pair of walks, loading the bases.

Cruz managed to escape the jam without allowing a run, thanks to a double play.

ABS Challenge

Before escaping the bases-loaded situation, Cruz attempted to get an ABS call overturned on a 1-1 pitch to Davis Schneider. Wells tried to shake off Cruz, recognising the pitch was outside the strike zone. Wells was too late, and the Yankees lost the challenge.

Will Warren is scheduled to make his second spring start when the Yankees play the Phillies in Clearwater, Fla.
