Club Brugge Fans Prepare for Potential Title-Winning Match

Club Brugge supporters are preparing for the potential title-winning match against KV Mechelen. Only 800 Club Brugge fans will be able to cheer on their team at the KV Mechelen match. For those unable to make the trip, Club Brugge is setting up a large screen at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

Stadium Screen for Home Fans

A large screen will be erected on parking 1 at the Jan Breydel Stadium. This will allow fans to watch the match, which starts at 20.30.

Sam Vanhooren from supporters club “The Locals 78” believes the viewing area will be packed. “This square will be too small,” says Vanhooren, expecting thousands to attend. He added, “We expect thousands of people to come here. It is a fantastic initiative from Club for everyone who cannot go to Mechelen.”

Celebration Plans

Despite the potential title win, the Club Brugge players will not return to Olympia stadium tonight. Celebrations at the stadium will be limited to midnight. “There is also a clear agreement that they can continue until midnight after the match, but after that everything will be cleaned up,” says the mayor of Bruges, Dirk De fauw.

Dirk De fauw added, “We don’t want to sell the bear’s skin before it’s shot, but we are prepared. A 20th national title will still provide a celebration.”

Further Festivities

Larger celebrations are planned for Sunday against KAA Gent in front of their own fans. Vanhooren anticipates “an exuberant atmosphere in an exuberant stadium.” He also noted that it will be “a nice farewell match for Simon Mignolet.”

The Platse in Sint-Andries will also become a celebration zone. According to the mayor, “The match will be broadcast on television screens in the catering establishments and then a celebration can be celebrated.”

A parade through the centre of Bruges to the Grote Markt is planned for Pinkster Monday, to honour the champions. “The stage is located at the Provincial Court,” says Mayor De fauw. “There is animation from 4 pm, the players are expected between 6 pm and 7 pm.”
