An artificial intelligence simulation has assessed Galatasaray’s prospects in the Champions League, ahead of their match against Liverpool. The simulation, conducted by Opta, explored the likelihood of teams progressing through each round of the competition. It estimated each team’s chances of reaching the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final, as well as their chances of winning the Champions League.
The AI simulation was run 10,000 times. According to the results, Galatasaray have a 21 percent chance of overcoming Liverpool to reach the quarter-finals.
The simulation further suggests that Galatasaray have a 4.5 percent chance of reaching the semi-finals. Their chances of making it to the final are 1.5 percent, and their chances of winning the Champions League are placed at 0.4 percent.
Arsenal Favoured to Win Champions League
The artificial intelligence simulation also made predictions about other teams in the Champions League. Arsenal are considered the favourites to win the Champions League this season. They completed the league stage with eight wins from eight matches.
Arsenal’s probability of winning the Champions League is estimated at 26.7 percent. Behind Arsenal, Bayern Munich are given a 16.4 percent chance, while Liverpool have an 11.4 percent chance, and Manchester City an 11.1 percent chance of lifting the trophy.
Paris Saint-Germain, the previous year’s champions, have a predicted 4.3 percent chance of winning the Champions League again this season.
Galatasaray will play Liverpool at home on Tuesday, March 10.
