The Arizona State Sun Devils are set to face the Baylor Bears in the first round of the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, Missouri. This game could be the Sun Devils’ final stand of the 2025-26 season. Arizona State enters the tournament with a 16-15 record overall, and 7-11 in the Big 12.
Baylor also holds a 16-15 record, with a 6-12 mark in conference play.
Sun Devils Look to Avenge Earlier Loss
Arizona State is coming off an 86-65 loss to Iowa State. That disappointing result came after a poor final 15 minutes of action. Baylor, in contrast, defeated Utah 101-75 in their final regular season game. The two teams previously met on February 21, with Baylor winning 73-68 in Waco. A surprise run during the week is possible for either team.
Arizona State’s Starting Five
Head coach Bobby Hurley has selected his starting lineup. Odum will start, carrying extra motivation after not being selected for the All-Big 12 team. Despite ranking top 15 in scoring and top three in assists per game in the regular season, Odum was snubbed.
Meeusen will also start, and while he has had a rough patch offensively, he has remained a strong perimeter defender. His shooting and defensive playmaking will be vital against Baylor. Grbovic, despite recent offensive struggles, connects well with the team and has a knack for big shots. Trouet has become an unheralded player for Arizona State and will be key to winning the rebounding battle.
Diop, another All-Big 12 snub, will start at center. The freshman ranks in the top 25 nationally in blocks per game. Anthony “Pig” Johnson, Bryce Ford, Allen Mukeba, and Trevor Best are available off the bench.
