Sir David Beckham has achieved a major financial milestone, becoming the UK’s first billionaire sportsman. This news coincides with the Oasis brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, making their debut on the annual Sunday Times Rich List.
Beckhams Reach Billionaire Status
The combined wealth of Sir David and Lady Beckham is now estimated at a staggering £1.2bn. This surge in their financial standing marks a high point in Beckham’s post-football career. The Sunday Times reports that Sir David and Lady Beckham have doubled their wealth in the last 12 months.
Oasis Brothers Join the Rich List
Noel and Liam Gallagher, the famously feuding brothers behind the band Oasis, have also made their first appearance on the Sunday Times Rich List. Their estimated worth is £375m. This places them among the UK’s 350 richest individuals and families.
Other Notable Figures on the List
Topping the list for the fifth consecutive year are Sanjay and Dheeraj Hinduja, with a combined fortune of £38bn. King Charles’ estimated wealth has grown by £40m to £680m, pushing the monarch up to number 230 in the list. This means he now surpasses former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty, who are also on the list with an estimated worth of £563m.
Fallers and New Entrants
Not everyone on the list saw their fortunes rise. Inventor Sir James Dyson experienced a significant drop, with his wealth decreasing by £8.8bn to £12bn. Manchester United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe also saw his fortune decrease from £17bn to £15.19bn.
Among the new entrants to the list is Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis and her family, who hold an estimated fortune of £400m. Entrepreneur Christopher Harborne also features in sixth place.
The Sunday Times Rich List calculates that there are now 157 UK billionaires.
