Vitória defeated Flamengo to advance to the round of 16 in the Copa do Brasil, securing a lucrative prize in the process. After losing the first leg 2-1, Vitória won the return match 2-0 at the Barradão, thus progressing to the next stage of the competition.
Having already received R$2 million for their participation in the fifth phase of the competition, Vitória will now gain an additional R$3 million for advancing to the round of 16.
It is worth noting that the elite clubs from the Campeonato Brasileiro entered this edition of the Copa do Brasil directly in the fifth phase. Vitória is now through to face their second opponent in the tournament.
