Angel Reese played a key role as the Atlanta Dream defeated the Dallas Wings. Reese’s improved performance contributed to the Dream’s 77-72 victory over a team featuring Paige Bueckers.
Reese’s Improved Performance
Reese’s debut with the Atlanta Dream was marked by some inefficiency and turnovers. However, she made impactful defensive plays during that one-point win. In the game against Dallas, Reese refined her performance.
She scored 12 points, making four of eight shots from the floor and going 4-for-4 from the foul line. Reese also secured 16 rebounds, eight of which were offensive. She added two assists, one steal, and one block, though she did have three turnovers.
Despite not being a perfect night, Reese finished with a plus-1 rating in her 34 minutes on the court.
Key Contributions from Dream Players
Allisha Gray led the Dream with 26 points. Jordin Canada contributed 19 points, while Rhyne Howard added 14.
Another notable performance came from Naz Hillmon. While she only scored 1 point and grabbed 3 rebounds in her 36 minutes, she had a team-best plus-12 rating, making life difficult for Dallas.
Bueckers and the Wings’ Efforts
Paige Bueckers scored 15 points for the Wings, shooting 5-for-12 from the field. Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 20 points.
Dallas was coming off an impressive opening win over the Indiana Fever. However, the Dream managed to keep the Wings’ offense in check.
The Dream will be pleased with their 2-0 start to the season.
